Steve Taylor is executive vice president of Strategy for Ecolab Inc., the global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services that protect people and vital resources.

In his current role, Taylor has responsibility for the company’s corporate strategy development and special projects focused on growth initiatives. Previously, Taylor served as executive vice president and president of Ecolab’s Global Energy segment, which operates as Nalco Champion.

Prior to joining Ecolab in 2011 through a merger with Nalco Company, Taylor was executive vice president and president of Nalco’s Energy Services division. In 2007, Taylor was promoted to lead the Energy Services  after a series of leadership roles within the division, including vice president of Upstream Energy Services, strategic business unit leader of Nalco’s Oilfield Chemicals group and division vice president of Marketing for Upstream and Downstream. Taylor joined Nalco in 1994, when the joint venture Nalco/Exxon Energy Chemicals was created between Nalco and Exxon Energy Chemicals. 

Taylor began his career with Exxon in 1983 as a programmer/analyst for Esso Petroleum and held various business positions before transferring to Exxon Chemical Energy Chemicals in 1986.  In 1988, he was named business development manager for Research, and in 1990, Taylor transferred to the Middle East and held various sales management positions including general manager of Emirates National Chemical Company. 

Taylor has a bachelor’s degree in Geology from Bristol University in the United Kingdom.
